Terra Cotta Flame with Cornucopia

Updated: Aug 16

Salvaged from a building at the north west corner of Vandeventer Avenue and McPherson Avenue, this is a large piece of terra cotta with a flame and cornucopia.

The glaze is most unusual.

Three pieces which must be mounted to a wall for stability.

In architecture, the flame often represents eternal life/soul, knowledge and enlightenment, transformation and renewal, inspiration and passion, guidance and strength or purification. While the cornucopia represents abundance, prosperity, good fortune, and gratitude. Maybe this building was a funeral home, or a mortuary?

Demolished: 1987, for another parking lot

Width: 14”

Height: 49.5”

Depth: 14”

Price: $1250.00
